How to interface bsl rocket with MSP430F5229 (Split IO)?

Hi All,

I want to use BSL rocket for flashing my custom board based on MSP430F5229. I use a split IO in my design, and hence as per the user manual of 5229, BSLEN pin should be used for invoking bootloader instead of TEST pin. Is BSL rocket suitable for this situation wherein BSLEN is used instead of TEST PIN?

F5529 has preloaded USB HID BSL, and there is open source TI PC side firmware uploader. It can be enabled with few extra parts, and don't see any reason for making things more complicated by using extra tool for UART BSL.

Hi Zrno soli,

Sorry but the microcontroller is 5229 not 5529. It does not have a USB.

I checked the datasheet, and it (BSL Rocket) should work just fine with BSL by DVCC.
However (I guess) that it will not work by DVIO because of difference in voltage levels, and factory preloaded 5229 BSL that works by DVCC.

Is there any way we could program 5229 apart from JTAG in a split IO design?
