How to speed up MSP430_OpenDevice()

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSPDS, MSP430G2211, MSP430F5529

Dear TI engineers,

One of my customer is using MSPDS to flash firmware in MSP430G2211 production. They found that when executing MSP430_OpenDevice() function in MSP430.DLL lib, sometimes it takes ~1 second, sometimes it takes ~3 second.  They wants to speed up the production, and hope MSP430_OpenDevice()

success  in 1 second every time.  Is this possible? They've tried latest MSPDS  version----3.08.001.000, still same result. Do you have any suggestion?Thanks a lot

  • It is also related to master JTAG / SBW hardware, but of course for the same G2xx target device flashing time should be equal.
  • Dear Zrno,
    Thanks for your reply. The SBW hardware is MSP-EXP430G2. We found that even if the same debugger and the same target G2211, the executing time of MSP430_OpenDevice is very different.
  • G2 LP is based on slow F1xxx FET master device with old closed not-updatable firmware and (I guess) not supported by TI anymore.

    There are new open source updatable FET's on LP's like for example MSP430F5529. And in this case, if TI can't help you regarding something, you are still able to debug problem by yourself or made customized firmware version.
