USB device fails with "UNKNOWN DEVICE"

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5510

Hi

We are using MSP430F5510 with MSP430USBDevleopersPackage_3_20_02 for USB keyboard device. The device enumerates as HID Keyboard, HID-compliant vendor-defined device, USB Input Device and USB Input Device.

We have 3000 units installed connected to Windows XP PC. The PC is re-booted once a day and the USB devices enumerates and connects. The customer is reporting that some units that have worked for days and weeks on occassion they go into "UNKNOWN DEVICE"  after re-boot. Drilled down and we also found following:

Device not started: Device has problem: 0x2b: CM_PROB_FAILED_POST_START.

looking on msdn we found following link:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/drivers/install/cm-prob-failed-post-start

Recommended Resolution (Windows XP and later versions of Windows)

Uninstall and reinstall the device.

One of the drivers controlling the device told the operating system the device failed in some manner in response to IRP_MN_QUERY_PNP_DEVICE_STATE.

We have  tried to uninstall the device thru device manager and reboot and this does not resolve the problem.

Only way to resolve above is by re-connecting device.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

Prakash
