MSP430F5229: How to check MSP430F5229 is working or not without coding

Part Number: MSP430F5229
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430-FLASHER, CCSTUDIO, MSP430F5529

Code dumping is method of testing micro-controller whether it is working or not. Any other way to find?

  • You will need to clarify what the definition of working is. If you want to check that the device is powered on and active then you can see if it responds to JTAG/SBW commands. This can be done using an IDE like CCStudio, MSP430-FLASHER, FET-Pro430, etc.

Whitout coding, blank (mass erased) MSP430F5529 with 4, 8, 12 or 24 MHz XT2, on power up, will enter to USB BSL mode automatically, and should be enumerated on PC side as HID device.
