MSP432P401R: MAX31850

Part Number: MSP432P401R

Hi,

I have two k-type thermocouple and I want to purchase MAX31850 (cdn-shop.adafruit.com/.../MAX31850-MAX31851.pdf ) for amplification and cold junction. I want to connect it to MSP432. Do you think I can just read A0-A4 of MAX31850 with MSP432 or I need some interfaces?

Thanks,

Bah

  • Bah,
I do not follow your questions. I do not see A0-A4 on the MAX31850. This device has an on-board ADC and communicates with a microcontroller via a one-wire interface. As long as the bus voltage is within the IO specification of the bus, then I do not see any issue with using a GPIO.

    Regards,
    Chris

First you shall read MAX31850 datasheet. Particular chip have A0-A3 address pins. Those pins define ADC chip address (signal direction: input to the ADC), you do not read ADC data through them. You read data through pin named DQ. Indeed you can communicate MAX31850 with MSP432 using GPIO pin of MSP432, you just need to implement 1-Wire bus protocol.
