MSP430F5529: MSP430-Spirit1 driver

Part Number: MSP430F5529
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC110L, MSP430G2553, MSP-EXP430F5529LP

Hi,

I'm trying to build an application based on the MSP430F5xx and the RF SPIRIT1 module SPSGRF-868.

I found drivers for ST MCU devices but not for MSP430. I'm wondering if some one had worked on it before.

Thank you.

  • Hi Delared,

It can definitely be challenging working with devices from different manufactures due to different architectures, software, tools, etc., but it's not impossible. Unfortunately, we don't support drivers for competitor devices.

I'd recommend taking a look at the 430BOOST-CC110L BoosterPack. Based on our CC110L, it features a radio module with integrated antenna that operates at 868-870MHz, is FCC certified, and has a SPI interface between the module and the MSP430. The sample program was built on the MSP430G2553, but using our BoosterPack Checker tool, the MSP-EXP430F5529LP LaunchPad is compatible with this BoosterPack (although you'd have to port the code from G2xx to F5xx). In the software for the CC112x-CC1190 Boost Software Examples, I found some SPI drivers that may be a good reference.

    Hopefully this helps.

    Regards,

    James

  • Thanks James,

    Actually, I like your suggestion,

but I'm afraid that I cannot integrate  the CC110L RF BoosterPack due to his  size, and I'm avoiding to re-layouting the RF chip in my boards.

by the way, is there a small ready to use CC110L RF with embedded antenna (without the GPIO expansion) ?

    Thank you.

  • For easy development, the BoosterPack utilizes the Anaren Integrated Radio (AIR) A110LR09A radio module, but you could purchase it separately using the link below.
