MSP430 LaunchPad firmware update failed

Hi,

today I tried to update my MSP Launchpad. The reason was I could not program a 2533 and my launchpad serial number is in between 1009xxxxx and 1101xxxxx. So i assumed the firmware is the reason. But an error occurred while using the LaunchPadFirmwareUpdater2.0.exe.

Win7 64bit
430g2231 connected
nothing else connected

But the update stopped with an error and now i cant even program the previous working microcontroller.
The Launchpad is not recognized from the CCS and the LaunchPadFirmwareUpdater2 is requesting a IC, but it is still in the socket.

Is my Launchpad now bricked?

Is there a way to restore it with another Launchpad or JTAG programmer?

  • Hi Fabian,

I'm discussing this with our LaunchPadFirmwareUpdater expert and will get back to you shortly with a response. Thanks for your patience.

  • Hi Fabian,

Unfortunately, I believe your LaunchPad may be in an unrecoverable state. I apologize for this and I'm working with our LaunchPad team to ensure it doesn't happen to others.

If you'd like, we can provide an updated LaunchPad to replace the one that's been bricked. In the meantime, I've sent you a friend request. Once you accept it, feel free to send me a private message with your shipping info and we'll work on getting a new out to you soon.

    Best regards,
    Caleb Overbay

  • Thank you for that service.
