MSP430G2533: MSP430G2533 28-Pin compatible with MSP430 Launchpad?

Part Number: MSP430G2533

Hi,
is it possible to program a msp430g2533ipw28 (28-Pin) with the MSP Launchpad? Msp430g2533 is listed in the compatibility list, but my Launchpad fails to write to it.

Power, Ground, TEST, RST are connected to the Launchpad and the msp430g2533 no other circuit is connected to the msp430g2533.

Launchpad Version: 1.4
Serial: 1011xxxxx
Windows 7 64bit
CCS 6.2

Thanks

  • Hello Fabian,

The 28-pin package device would not be able to be used with the launchpad as the max pin compatible device for the launchpad is 20-pin. You would have several pins hanging of the package which is not advised.

Now if you have a separate board that has the 28-pin device on it, you could jumper over the emulator signals to that board and program the 28pin device. You would need to remove all of the top headers in the LP and jump over the signals from the emulation side to the external board. (Test,RST,VCC,GND)
  • Exactly that is my plan.
Thank you for confirming it. Seems my Launchpad really needs the ned Firmware to write to it (e2e.ti.com/.../569082).
