CCS/TDC7200: Communicating with TDC7200 using MSP430F5529

Part Number: TDC7200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529,

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I’m currently working on a project that involves using time-of-flight for range-finding applications. My group and I are planning on using the MSP430F5529 and TDC7200. I have a few questions. We are not using the evaluation board for the TDC7200 (just the chip) and was wanted to know how would one go about communicating to the TDC7200 via SPI?

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Cedric,

A typical application is shown in Section 9.2 of the TDC7200 User's Guide. Timing Requirements and SPI communication sequence examples are provided in Section 7.6 and Figure 1. Although not used, the evaluation board should be studied as a reference. MSP430F5529 SPI examples are provided in the MSP430F55xx_Code_Examples package on the Tools & software tab of the product page. Clock polarity is inactive low and data is captured on the first (rising) edge, changed on the falling (second). Use 3-bit SPI mode and control the CS pin manually through a GPIO.

    Regards,
    Ryan
