MSP430F6779A: EVM430-F6779A processor loading.

Concerning processing power, the metering solution just uses a large infinite For loop to accomplish its application so there shouldn't be an issue with pausing metering operation at the end of the loop, perform your data recording, and then continue with energy measurements. However I will loop in a metering expert to answer any further questions you might have or difficulties you are encountering.

Memory information can be found in the corresponding MAP file which should be located inside the IAR project's Debug -> List (or Output) folder. The metering application requires ~15 kB of CODE memory, 1.5 kB of DATA memory, and 700 bytes of CONST memory. Given that the MSP430F6779A has 512 KB of main memory and 32 KB of RAM you should have no issues with memory space.

The main loop looks like it waits for an interrupt or some event to wake the processor. Any idea how long it is sleeping as a percentage? Also, am I right in assuming that the main loop could be worked in as a task in an RTOS?

Do you have the hardware? If so, you could set up a toggle on an LED to measure the timing with an oscilloscope.

I'll have to look into the RTOS question for you though.

Unfortunately I do not have the hardware. I was trying to assess my options before committing to hardware. I have many options to consider for this design, and I want to narrow the field before going too far down the road.
