MSP432P401R: MSPFlasher - support for the MSP432 launchpad?

Part Number: MSP432P401R

Hi all,

does anyone know if the MSP Flasher utility (www.ti.com/tool/MSP430-FLASHER) supports the MSP432 Launchpad somehow?

I have checked the MSPFlasher user guide and it does not seem to support the XDS debug probe but only MSP-FET, MSP-FET430UIF, eZ-FET & eZ-FET lite and eZ430. Unless I am missing something, I cannot use this utility to flash the 'vanilla' launchpad (=without an external debugger?

Is there any planned support for the XDS in the MSP Flasher? And if not, is there another good way to make a backup of the Info memory of the MSP432 in a production friendly way (best would be something scriptable, e.g. via GDB)?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

  • I'm not sure about the TI side of this issue.

But the MSP432 is a Cortex M4, and comes as "ARM package" with a JTAG and/or SWD debug interface. Every commercially available debug pod for Cortex M is compatible, and you can use any one with explicit support for the MSP432. (The latter is a debug pod firmware issue).

Segger JLink would be a good choice, coming with a bunch of separate tools, including standalone programming.
