MSP430F6659: Using MSP430F6659 part in the MSP430F5359 design

Champs,

Customer requires to use MSP430F6659IZQWR device in the design done for MSP430F5359IZQWR . They do not require USB. How USB related pin need to handled? Is it ok to leave them unconnected?

Hi Michael,

Connection of Unused Pins, including USB pins, is covered in Section 1.6 of the User's Guide (SLAU208): www.ti.com/.../slau208p.pdf

Some should be left open but it is recommended to connect VBUS, PUR, and VSSU to DVSS (GND). PUR is especially important since it can accidentally invoke the BSL if left floating.
