Hi,

We are using MSP430FR2111 MCU in our design to control 4 no's of replays.

Unable to program the chip using SBW interface..

From CCS we get error message "MSP430: Error connecting to the target: Could not find device (or device not supported)"

Probed SBWIO and SBWCLK signals are good with 3.3V peak to peak.

Please help how we can program the chip using UART interface. Below is the schematic for reference..

Hi Chandra,

Please confirm all SBW connections (VCC, GND, TEST, RESET). VCC needs an extra 4.7/10 uF decoupling capacitor. The RST line needs a 47 kOhm pullup resistor and 1/2.2 nF pulldown capacitor. The TEST and RST traces need to be of similar length and the JTAG connection cables should be as short as possible. Programming through the UART lines is possible through a BSL interface, more information is provided in Section 6.6 of the device datasheet along with the BSL User's Guide (SLAU610): www.ti.com/.../slau610b.pdf

Hi Ryan,

TEST and RST are not even routed 0.5inches length anyway length of both the signals are same.

regarding Vcc need extra 4.7/10UF , I have it 10Uf + 0.1Uf capacitor placed near to pin. Is it mandatory to have RST line with 47K ohm PU and 1nf PD? Is it required to generate the reset delay?

Hi Chandra,

Your schematic did not show the extra 10 uF capacitor so thanks for clarifying. The 47K ohm PU and 1nf PD are recommended by TI and should particularly be followed if experiencing SBW communication issues.

Hi Ryan,

Just now I tried connecting 47K PU and 1nF PD still no communication. Any other thing we can suspect.

I am using MSP-EXP430G2 board disconnected Test ,RST and VCC jumpers connected the wires from there to our board with Ground connections.

I can see 555.6Khz of SBW clock and SWB data signal is also good.

Chandra,

The eZ430 does not support FRAM devices, only the F20xx, F21x2, F22xx, G2x01, G2x11, G2x21, G2x31, & G2x53 families.

What is the other way I can program it. which evaluation platform I can use to program.

Hi Chandra,

Any other MSP LaunchPad (all of which have an eZ-FET including the MSP-EXP430FR2311) or MSP-FET/MSP-FET430UIF is capable of programming MSP FRAM devices.

Hi Ryan,

yes you are right , tested with MSP-EXP430FR2311. I am able to run the program.

Hi,

I am trying to interface the CC1101 to communicate between MSP430fr2111 launchpads using the SPI interface but can not find any examples on how to configure the CC1101 or how to use the SPI interface. Please help me out.

I suggest starting with the BOOSTXL-CC1120-90/TIDC-SIGFOX-CC1120-CC1190-BP Software Examples, which include support for the G2553/F5529/F5438a and can be ported to the MSP430FR2111. You can also look through MSP430FRBoot resources but it will be more difficult to extract the resources you need.
