It depends on your package, see page 2, 7, 8 and 9 of datasheet (www.ti.com/.../msp430f5172).

Thanks I got it but there is one more confusion that I have to study MSP430F5172 for this I downloaded MSP430x5xx Family User's Guide (SLUA208) in this when I go to page number 95 for CPU Introduction the details given are regarding MSP430XFX.
what is the difference between MSP430F5172 & MSP430XFX?

"MSP430" or "MSP430x5xx" is the name of a microcontroller family.
"MSP430", "MSP430X", "CPUX", or "CPUXV2" is the name of the CPU architecture.

Your MSP430F5172 chip is a member of the 5xx family; it contains a CPU and lots of other peripheral devices.

The User's Guide describes all devices that 5xx family members can have; the datasheet lists which devices the F5172 actually has. The "CPUX" chapter describes the CPU in your F5172.
