MSP430G2553: How can I protect my code from being dumpted?

Guru 18605 points
Part Number: MSP430G2553
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET, MSP-FLASHER

Dear,

we have done a nice design employing MSP430G2553.

So, we would like to prevent something dumping the HEX code in flash and simply copying to another MSP430G2553.

For this, I think we need to blow the JTAG fuse? And also disable bootloader?

I have read many threads but it is a bit confusing for me :)

Do I need, for example MSP-FET430UIF? Can I do this by just using Code Composer Studio?

Thanks a lot, I will be waiting for your answers and knowledge!

Have a really nice day.

  • You need hardware tool that can generate 6-7V VPP (MSP-FET or UIF). Than fuse can be blown by any TI software (I guess MSP-Flasher too). If I remember right, things related disabling BSL can be found in device datasheet.
