MSP430G2553: Suspicious memory corruption issue

Part Number: MSP430G2553

hi,

One of my customer has program the MSP430G2553 successfully with MSP-Gang program as shown below:

However, when they mount the MSP430 on board and it failed the functionality test. When they tried to readback and did a comparison on the content. They found differences when compare to the original binary as shown below:

Had been trying with second  MSP430, still the same:

Does this indicate a flash memory corruption? What does the information represent at that address?

Should I send back for FA request?

One of the observation so far, this issue only happened when they tried to reprogram the MSP430 for firmware update.

If they are using new MSP430 (never program before), it will be alright with the right content.

Any advice will helpful.

Best Regards,

kpk

  • Hi kpk,

This is the information memory stored from 0x1000h to 010FFh, your MSP-GANG settings (see: Memory option -> All memory) are deleting information memory segment A which contains calibration data stored for both the DCO and ADC10. These are specific values for each MSP430 that are programmed during production and cannot be recovered when deleted while re-programming your device. Please change your Memory options to "Main memory only".

    Regards,
    Ryan
