MSP430F55xx experiment or development kit

Hi, does TI plan to offer a MSP430F55xx experiment or development kit for customers to test the USB stack?

Thanks.

  • Currently we offer F552x boards for the 80 & 100 pin packages here and here. They are socketed target boards with a USB connection. Is this what you are looking for?

  • There is also a 64 pin version.

The only problem I have with mine is that TI has not released the Field Firmware Update software yet. It is a very cool board non-the-less. This board also works with the LaunchPad since the board supports the SBW. The ZIF socket is a very nice touch, and the kit comes with 2 chips, headers, a crystal, and a USB cable.

    Hi,

The reason the board was not released on schedule e/o '09 is because the board is undergoing a redesign. As soon as I have more info I will update this thread.

  • Hi,

I am the TI Engineer who is now responsible for re-designing the 5529 Experimenter's Board.  TI has hoped to have this tool available by now, but the first revision of the experimenter's board had to be re-designed, as Brandon mentioned in the above post.   Along with the redesign effort, recent customer critical issues have also delayed the development on this board.  The good news is that I am now fully engaged in the design effort, and we are very close to building a pilot run of the second revision.  After design validation and development of the user's experience code, we will able to release this board to market.   Unfortunately, at this point, I don't have a detailed timeline for a release date, but please know that we are working very hard to bring this to market as soon as possible.  If you have any particular questions about the board, please let me know.

  • Hi Brian,

thank you for the information! May you provide some details on the board? Will it also include a MDC stack version?

    Brian,

Do you have any news about the release date for the 5529 Experimenter's Board.

Actually, I want to use 5510. Do you think I should switch to 5529 to begin with and consider 5510 later?

    Thanks,

  • So is there an update on this now that the chips have hit revision E with the flash bugs fixed?

If my senior design project's board design and building goes well I might make some of my own dev boards based on these series and sell them if anyone wants.

I'm thinking I could put a micro SD card slot and a zigbee radio connector or something on a small header board. Could have SBW support and it would make a nice kit to teach the MSP430 + USB development on.
