LaunchPad - eStore & back orders

E-store:

The interest in the LaunchPad has been tremendous! As many of you experienced, so great was the demand that our current eStore platform was unable to complete many of your transactions and orders. A credit card authorization issue may also have been experienced as a result of the server response.

We apologize for the trouble and are working on an entirely new eStore, scheduled to launch in September 2010. This new eStore has been tested specifically for the issues mentioned (and many others!) and we hope you will come back and try out the new page. Be on the lookout for an update on E2E and the LaunchPad Wiki, alerting you when the new eStore is live.

If you would still like to order your LaunchPad, please check the wiki for availability updates and purchase options from TI and authorized distributors.

Back Orders:

TI has realized unprecedented demand for the new MSP430 Value Line LaunchPad tool which became back ordered within the first few days of availability. Due to incredible demand, you may have experienced both technical problems and shipping delays due to order and inventory challenges. We appreciate your support of the MSP430 microcontrollers and your interest in the new LaunchPad tool. We are still taking orders, accelerating manufacturing, and will ship devices to you as soon as they are available. For the most up to date information on availability, visit www.ti.com/launchpadwiki – And do check back often!

Also visit www.ti.com/430value for more information on our new low cost microcontrollers.

  • Russell,

Regarding back orders, does this mean that back orders of the LaunchPad via the eStore will still be fulfilled as stock becomes available?  I'm asking because I placed an order and received proper notification about it being back ordered.  However, when I check the status via the eStore's order status page, it says the order is "shipped," although under the actual item it says "quantity ordered 2," "quantity shipped 0," and "quantity backordered 2."  Is "shipped" under ship status just misleading, and I can still expect my back order in the future?  (Let me know if I should address this question to someone else.)

    Thanks,
    Joel

  • I have seen that happen before and I ended up getting the products when inventory became available.  I am fairly certain that is 'normal' behavior for a product that is waiting for inventory for fulfillment in a back-ordered scenario from TI estore's current/old system.  It is nothing to worry about, and I think you'll see your items updated with a shipped notification and tracking number sometime this month unless they really didn't order enough to cover the backlog of orders.  My order is in the same state, and I am not worried about it.

  • I placed an order for the Launchpad on 07/21/2010 , received an email of confirmation and another with backorder details. But with the launch of the new eStore my order status displays 'You have not placed any orders.' . What to do ?

  • TI changed their e-Store web system recently, and I'm not sure if it is still tied into the same system/database that you may have used when you placed your order, or if it is a new system reflective of only the new orders made since they changed it.  Anyway here is a link to the order status page for the 'old' estore system, and if you can't get your order found within the new site's menus, maybe entering your order number into the order status page at the following link will help you see the status of your order.

I strongly suspect that if your order was confirmed and listed as back ordered that it is still in the backordered state and that you have nothing to worry about but waiting for more inventory.  I believe that some of the orders placed around the very end of June and beginning of July have yet to be filled, but that those will be shipping fairly soon -- they seem to have taken care of most of the previous ones, and are apparently presently working on fulfilling those.  Since you ordered in late July, you'll probably be seeing yours a bit after the people with early/mid July orders start getting theirs  over the next few weeks.

  • Yes you are right. I verified and apparently my order is still active . Although the ship status states shipped and the Qty shipped is 0 . But i think i read somewhere else that that's nothing to worry about .

    Thanks for the reply.
