MSP432P401M controller

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MAX3221E

Hello Everyone,

I am working on my own MSP432P401M controller. I have interface MSP432 MCU with MAX3221E IC. Microcontroller is transmitting the data. I have confirmed that on DSO. But, the level convertor IC is not operating properly (not giving output).Surprisingly,I have also observe that i am able to receive the externally send data ( MAX322 IC  is receiving the data but not transmitting).I am attaching the screenshot of the circuit diagram.

Please comment on exactly where FORCEON and FORCEOFF connection and confirm our connection is right or not?? If the connections are wrong and  If this is  the case that i am not able to transmit the data. So, what are the proper connections of FORCEON and FORCEOFF pin . Currently I am not connecting TVS824022 TVS diode and C11,C12 capacitor. So, they are not causing any issue??

Thanks

  • Hi,

First of all, please make sure EN~ input is low, other wise the device will be disabled.

With FORCEON low and FORCEOFF~ high, the device operates normally with auto-power down enabled. Can you check the voltage on INVALID pin? If it's low, it means the receiver input is not considered as a valid RS232 signal.

You can also try with both FORCEON low and FORCEOFF~ high, which will disable auto-power down function. Then you can tell if the issue is related to the states of these two pins. In this case, INVALID can still be used to indicate if RX input has valid data.

In general, to debug if there is something wrong with the part. You can always check V+, V-, C1- and C1+. V+ is expected to be higher than Vcc, V- expected to be same as inverted V+, C1- oscillating between VCC and GND, C1+ oscillating between VCC and V+.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
