MSP430F5438A: VLO with active mode

Part Number: MSP430F5438A

I have a customer wanting to use VLO in active mode.

From what I can tell, this should work.   They are needing this for low power.

Are there any issues or caveats with using device this way?

Thanks,

Wade

  • Hi Wade,

There should be no issue with using the VLO when the device is in active mode. However, they should know that the VLO is a low accuracy source and can vary significantly over temperature. You can find more information about the accuracy of the VLO in the device's datasheet.

What will they be sourcing with the VLO?

    Best regards,

  • Caleb, thanks.
I have not received information on what will be sourced.
However, followup on if we have any power consumption/current characterization for operating in active mode with VLO.
I don't expect it will completely scale on a uA/Mhz based on DCO AM operation.
They do understand the inaccurate nature of VLO.
    Thanks,
    Wade
  • Hi Wade,

I'm not sure if we have any data on power consumption in active mode using the VLO. I'll look into this for you and get back to you when I hear something.
