MSP430F5529: Trouble Installing EZ-FET Lite in headless Linux Application

Hi, 

My customer has spun a board with the EZ-FET Lite on it.

The board also has a X86 on it with Linux installed.

The bad news is that it doesn't have a monitor output (just a UART command line).

Any pointers on how to install the EZ-FET software on it using just the command line?

I did find slau647h.pdf (mspDebuggers).  It has a section 4.2 that the customer is working on to install Linux.

I then referred hi to ti.com/mspds for a command line interface.

Is this the best software I should point him toward, or should I send him to msp flasher?

Any pointers for install and a software front end?

    Thank you for the detailed background.

    Are you asking how to install software on their headless Linux processor? I'm assuming that they have the ability to connect to the x86 processor and install programs over the Internet (via Wi-Fi or Ethernet) using ssh, telnet, etc., since it's headless Linux. If not, perhaps they have a USB interface on the x86 processor where they could load/install the executable/source code. This is a Linux-level question that's independent of specific software.

    To program the MSP430F5529 using the eZ-FET Lite and x86 processor, I would first recommend the MSP430 Flasher like you mentioned. Please note that this assumes that the functions/features/commands listed on the MSP430 Flasher product page meets their requirements and also assumes that they are running Ubuntu-based Linux. If the MSP430 Flasher doesn't meet their needs, they could use the more advanced open-source MSP Debug Stack. These tools can be run via the command line, so assuming they can connect as described above, this shouldn't be an issue.

    One thing I did see in the MSP Debuggers User's Guide was that if you're installing TI CCS as root or user, make sure that the debug probe is not connected to the computer during installation. I'm assuming that this would apply to the MSP430 Flasher and MSP Debug Stack installation processes as well, so hopefully they have a way of physically disconnecting the eZ-FET Lite from the x86 processor. If the x86 processor can be removed from its on-board socket and programmed, then this wouldn't be a concern.
