MSP430FR6989: Programming Device/Software

Hello,
I have a MSP430FR6989 chip on a custom circuit board. The code is already finished, but I don´t know how to get it in the device.
There is a JTAG connector on the circuit board, which I would prefere to use.

I already tried it by using a MSP-PRGS430, but it didn´t work.

So my question is: Can I use that MSP-PRGS430 to program the chip? If that is not possible, what device/software do have to use instead?

Hello Georg,

MSP430 FRAM devices are not supported by the MSP-PRGS430, as observed on the tools page. You will need to use a MSP-GANG, MSP-FET430UIF, or MSP-FET tool to program the MSP430FR6989.

So for example I could use the MSP-FET together with the IAR Embedded Workbench and it will do the Job?

Definitely yes. But for only uploading the code I would not use an IDE. You could use a tool like FET-Pro-430 from Elpotronic, for example.

Thanks. I think I will try both Softwares an decide what is the best way for me to do it. But I have to wait for the MSP-FET first.

As zrno said - if you have any LaunchPad with eZ-FET (Lite), you can use this one as well.
