CCS/MSP432P401R: How is MAP function different from non-MAP function. i.e. MAP_CS_initClockSignal v.s. CS_initClockSignal

I was digging into the example codes and I found lots of functions involved MAP_xxxxxxx, i.e. MAP_CS_initClockSignal, MAP_PCM_setPowerState, etc.

I tried to open up the declaration of the function, I can only see the header file, but I can't find the function declaration.

I wonder how is MAP function different from non-MAP.

Also, where can I find the function declaration for MAP functions?

It is compiler #define magic to allow for the MSP432 with spacious flash to use lib routines that are already in flash. The compiler does not need to create code in your executable for them, it can just link to them.

In other words, if you just call foo() the compiler will include the assembler code for foo in your executable. if you call MAP_foo(), it will first check to see if foo is already in your MSP432. If it is, it just calls the foo() already included in flash, instead of including the routine in your executable.
