Tool/software: Code Composer Studio
Customer is using MSP-FET with Launchpad for MSP430F5529. He keeps getting error message "Could not set device Vcc." All connections seem correct and pin voltages are at 3.3 V. Are there any recommendations? I am working remotely and do not have many resources for the next week.

I think the error might occur around the first time CCS attempts to communicate with the MSP-FET, and thus could be a sign of a problem with the USB communication between the PC and MSP-FET. E.g.:
a) The MSP Debug Stack release notes for v3.3.1.3 said fixed a problem where "Could not set device Vcc" occurred when the COM was port blocked by OS.
b) https://users.wpi.edu/~ndemarinis/ece2049/e16/vm_setup.html says "Could not set device Vcc" can occur when using CCS under a virtual machine, and after the error has occurred to keep re-trying.
With CCS 7.2.0 under Windows 10 and a MSP-FET connected to a MSP430F6659 with the MSP-FET supplying power API Monitor reported the following initial calls to MSP430.dll when successfully started a debug session:
In the above example the MSP430_GetExtVoltage() indicated there was no external power (voltage = 0, state = NO_EX_POWER) and the MSP430_VCC() call set the voltage to that specified in the CCS debug properties.
Ask the customer to use Debug Server Logging to capture the log when the "Could not set device Vcc" error occurs. That won't prevent the error, but could help to analyse at what point in starting a debug session the error occurs.Akash Gondalia said:Are there any recommendations?
