Compiler/MSP430FR5994: How to setup QtCreator as an IDE for MSP430

I've been using CCSv7 for a while now, but I much prefer working in QtCreator for most of my code projects.

After finding this tutorial on how to setup the STM32 for development with QtCreator I was wondering if it's possible to do the same thing with the MSPs. I have downloaded the MSP430 open source tools and have attempted to setup kits but to no avail.

I was wondering if someone could suggest some documentation or offer an online tutorial on how to set this up.

The TI MSP430 team does not have any experience in working with QtCreator and therefore cannot provide any advice or tutorials on IDE setup/initialization. It sounds like you've already found the MSP430-GCC-OPENSOURCE which is the compiler that will need to be used, hopefully you can find support from QtCreator or the online community for importing compilers and device families.
