CCS/MSP-FET: Code composer frozen when debugging with FET tool

Hello,

I am trying to program a msp430FR2110 on a PCB using the MSP-FET-Flash Emulation Tool. When I try to run the debug function in code composer the device configuration window never progresses past "loading debugger". I have left the program running for 15 minutes and the window remains with the same progress. I have forced quit CCS a couple times and now the FET now does not output 3.3V from its VCC. Is my FET tool damaged? Also why might code composer be unable to configure the debugger? The screenshot of the window is below.

Hi Neville,
Are you by chance connected to the MSP-FET via USB HUB? I've seen the error you describe before in such a case.

Hi Ki,

By USB HUB do you mean the standard USB type B cable? I am using a USB type B to type A cable to connect from the FET tool to the PC.

I was thinking of an external USB hub like the below:

Oh I see. I am not using the external USB hub. Also I am now trying to debug using a eZ-FET from a msp430FR2311 Launchpad instead.

Did using the eZ-FET resolve your issue or are you still having difficulties debugging?

Hi Matthew,

Using the eZ-FET did resolve my issue. I am able to program using the Launchpad for now. However I still believe that my msp FET tool is damaged because its only sending out 0.5V instead of 3.3V.

Glad to hear the eZ-FET resolved your issues. As for the MSP-FET issues, can you give me the serial number off the FET?

Matthew,

The serial number is 140100294. Also I do recall force quitting code composer and unplugging the FET tool while code composer was running because the software was frozen.
