the MSP430F5529 USB upgrade using built-in BSL

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5529

Hi anyone,

I use the MSP430F5529 USB upgrade using built-in BSL, can achieve the upgrade is the current firmware and target hardware is matched, if do not match does not upgrade?

Because I may use 5529 to do different equipment, all upgraded through the USB, if the upgrade mess, will lead to the program does not match the device after the upgrade.
I read the BSL's PC-side code, did not see such a thing, can achieve my needs?

  • Hi Li Dong,
Sorry. I don't get your point clearly.
So you are looking for a way to find out are the firmware and the target match? Am I right?

    Best regards,
    Cash Hao
  • HI Cash Hao,

    Yes!

I am looking for a way to find out the firmware and the target match , use the TI's BSL tool for MSP430F5529.

if the firmware is not match the target board, will not erase the flash and will not update。  ony match will do flash erase and update firmware。

    Best regards

  • Hi Lidong,
We do not have a method to distinguish different applications through the BSL.
You can write a code and let the MSP430F5529 reply a respond about what it applies to. Then you can choose the right updated firmware based on that respond.

  • Hi cash,

USB I only do BLS upgrade function, the application does not contain usb protocol stack.
If it is indistinguishable, so use the USB upgrade, the user has more than two different devices using the same MSP430F5529 chip, may be misplaced cause problems.

  • Hi Lidong,
Sure. The customer have to distinguish the MSP430F5529 for different applications than update.

    Best regards,
    Cash Hao
