I am encountering the same problem.  Has anyone found the solution for this yet?

The demo runs in Java.

It looks like there is no Java runtime environment installed.

I have the latest Java installed.

please verify whether the JRE specifically is installed. There are various kinds of Java packages that can be installed in a system, but please make sure that the following one is installed:

the error message specifically indicates that JRE is not present in the system.

I have Java Runtime Environment version 6 update 25.  Standard Edition.  So I need to go back to an older version of Java to run the temp GUI?

I haven't tried with update 25 yet. Not sure if the GUI only works with a particular release. Maybe your particular system is missing something else. However this behavior is quite new to me. I understand this is taking a little bit more time to get it up and running as expected, but I'm curious to see if you'd have more success downloading the processing IDE v1.1 and running the program directly from the IDE. I'm hoping by downloading & installing the IDE you might fill in some of the dependencies that your Java setup currently doesn't help. It's a long shot...but your system also seems to be a special case.

By the way, I forgot to ask, and simply assumed that you're running Windows XP [+/- SP] correct? If you're actually running on a 64-bit system, you might need to recompile the code. processing v1.5 supports this, but I haven't had a chance to test that feature.
