MSP430F5359: Power Consumption of MSP430

Part Number: MSP430F5359

Hi,

I'm new to MSP430,

Can you please tell me the  maximum Power consumption of MSP430F5359 (Worst case).

Thank you

  • This is hard to say since it depends on the MCU's internal modules you want to use in your application. The MSP has a power consumption of about 295µA/MHz typical in active mode.

  • I agree to Dennis comments.
But you have take into account also teh max loading on GPIO pins here we specify a maximu load of 100mA which might the largest contributor on applicaiton level if you have loads connected.

The device itself shows 7.4mA nax when operating at 3.0V at 85 degC out of Flash. If you operate at higher voltage e.g. 3.6V max it increases. If you operate out of RAM or combined RAM and FLASH it decreases.

It also depends what additional modules you use e.g. Timer, UART, ADC,... and how they are clocked.
Also it depends if you use flash erase and program.
Do you use external oscillators or do you use the DCO.

So as you can see your question is too general to be answered because it depends on to many influencing factors.
  • Venkataramana,

did the general answer helped you somehow to make your question a bit more suprise or is the answer already sufficient enough?
If not please let us know otherwise we will close this thread.
