MSP430F5529: BSL over BLE

MSP430 experts,

Has anyone implemented successfully a BSL solution for a device like MSP430F5529 (or similar) over a bluetooth link with CC2640 (or CC2640R2F)? I'm expecting the CC2640 to act as a serial "pass-through" running Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP), and the BSL commands to come from the Android or iPhone App.

I know we've done something similar with the MSP432 and CC2640 as part of the SimpleLink software package.

I'm interested in knowing if there are any known challenges our customer will run into with implementing this for the F552x.

Hi Darren,
They will likely need to write a custome BSL, as it likely wont fit on the 2k of space provided.

Did you intend to give a link to another post?

Can you explain what you mean about the 2K?

If they change to a part that has no USB, then I believe they can use the default BSL, or is there another issue?

I also didn't take into consideration that you are likely handling the formatting overhead from the Bluetooth protocol the data on the cc2640.... so the following may not apply to you: By 2K, I meant the BSL memory. This may (or may not) be too little space to implement a large amount of protocol overhead associated with the Bluetooth. If needed you can implement a Main memory BSL, as illustrated in slaa600 www.ti.com/.../slaa600c.pdf.

There are UART, I2C and, USB BSL solutions that we provide check out
slau319 www.ti.com/.../slau319n.pdf and section 1.10 in the User Guide.
