MSP430FR2000: Manchester encode/decode on a simple MSP430

Champs,

One of our customers is looking for a simple MCU to decode/encode Manchester code.

Do we have that kind of code on MSP430?

I notice there is a very old app note where RC5 uses Manchester code on an Timer A.

Do you think this can be used for Manchester encoder/decoder?

If only Timer A3 can be used, is MSP430FR2000 enough?

Hi Wayne,

I went through the app note above and find it was using the Timer_A and the SCCI bit function is very important. However, the Timer_B on the FR2000 doesn't have the SCCI bit function. So that I'm afraid you couldn't use the method in the app note for FR2000.

FOR the FR2000, there is and IrDA Encoding and Decoding function implemented with the eUSCI_A module. You can go to the "section 21.3.5 IrDA Encoding and Decoding" of the device user's guide for the detailed guide. Maybe it can help your customer for the function.
