MSP-GANG: MSP-GANG API USB recognition problem

Hi,

Our customer is using MSP-GANG for MSP430's mass production,
Till now the programming was working well using API(Visual Basic 6.0 SP3 script).

All of a sudden they are having issue with the USB connection.
In their API Script they open the VCP before program and close it after program,
but now they get VCP Open and Close error (USB recognition failure).

Sometimes they are able to recover by re-plugging USB but sometimes
they cannot recover until the PC is rebooted.

OS1; Windows XP Professional (SP3) 32bit
OS2; Windows 7 Professional (SP1) 32bit
MSP-GANG1(old); software version 1.1.10
MSP-GANG2(new); software version 1.2.8

We are trying to get more details on this issue,
please let us know if there is any issue as such with MSP-GANG API and
if there is any suggestiong on what should be looked to troubleshoot this issue.

    We haven't hear any issues about the MSP-GANG API application.
    You showed up two OS and two MSP-GANG. Does this issue shows on all combinations on the OS and MSP-GANG. And what's more detail information you got?

    I have talked to Elprotronic software developer and he gave us some hints:
    • Meanwhile we have a new software revision, v1.2.9.0 on our website. Please download it and try if new revision solves the issue.
    • In the API script open CDC instead of VCP. MSP-GANG software uses CDC (it always was CDC, never changed).
    • Uninstall old and install new USB driver.
    He said that we never saw such an issue. However MSP-GANG uses “CDC”, so he wonders why it worked with VCP under WindowsXP.
    Please let us know whether above hints helped to solve the issue.

    And I am really sorry for the delay.

    Unfortunately our customer is not able to do the tests you have suggested. As they are into some other trouble, we may need some more time to close this. Could you please keep it open for a while.
