MSP24x - Clock Module - XT2Sx range select bit side effects

Hello everybody,

I'm using MSP2471, MSP2481 with  4 Mhz resonator on XT2.

According to the frequency range (3-16Mhz  crystal or resonator), the  XT2Sx bits of the BCSCTL3 register are set to : XT2S1=1, XT2S0=0.

Based on old MSP14x designs, with this configuration (4 Mhz resonator on XT2), the supply current is arround 1.6mA: with the MSP24x, same conditions, the supply current is arround 2.4mA (which seems to be out of spec)

Now, if in my MSP24x designs, the  XT2Sx bits of the BCSCTL3 register are set to 0, the supply current is decreasing of 1.1 mA and I get a result compatible with the supply current specifications in active mode.

What's going on ??

Thanks in advance
