MSP-GANG: Problem loading .bin files onto the MSP-GANG Programmer

Part Number: MSP-GANG

I have a MSP-GANG Programmer that is working perfectly and had a new one sent to my field technician. When he attempts to load our firmware onto the programmer it does not populate in the Programmer's Internal Image Memory drop down menu. I had him run the self test and had a single failure:

207: Image Flash Access (get ID) 0x0002 (0x0001 - 0x0002) Result: 0x00 ... >> ERROR <<

I would like to know if this indicates a hardware failure and we should return the unit or if there might be a fix we can do.

    Thanks for posting. I'm not familiar with that particular error on the self-test, so I'll need to ask our MSP-GANG designers to get more detail. I will update the thread as soon as I have confirmation on what that error means.

    In the meantime, could you also have the field technician report, on the programmer having an issue:

    1. The MSP-GANG HW version

    2. The MSP-GANG SW version

    3. The MSP-GANG GUI version

    If they have access to the MSP-GANG GUI, all of this information is easy to get by going to About > About with the MSP-GANG connected to the PC and just taking a screenshot. It should provide all relevant version information for us then.

    Hi cjones,

    The MSP-GANG designer indicated that based on the error message, he thinks your tech may have an old version of the firmware compared to the version of the hardware.

    Can you have your field tech try getting the latest MSP-GANG firmware from the website software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html. After installing the GUI, open it with MSP-GANG connected to the PC, and select Tools > GANG API Firmware Update. After running the update, then try the self-test again. If that produces no errors, then try loading the .bin file again and see if it now works.

    I hope that this helps to resolve the issue.
