Hi all,

I am using MSP430F1611 and want to use external crystal frequency( XT2 = 6 MHz). I don't know how to calculate the minimum startup time or delay which the crystal will take to start.

My DCO = 510kHz and MCLK = 750kHz.

Kindly suggest.

The crystal start-up time depends on the Q of the crystal and a lot of other factors. Usually, people loop through (a) clear the OFIFG, (b) delay a short while to give the hardware a chance to detect oscillator failure, and (c) test OFIFG and loop back to (a) if it is set. This could take milli-seconds.
