CCS/MSP430F5529: MSP-FET tool 'unknown device' every first debug attempt

I'm using an MSP-FET debugger with an MSP430F5529, Code Composer 6.2.

Frequently when I try to enter Debug, I get the error 'Unknown device'

A retry always works correctly.

Suggestions?

Try upgrading to the newest CCS, otherwise it does not sound like this issue is hindering development. Are you using a TI EVM or custom PCB?

It is a custom pcb. I did try installing CCS v7.x a while back but got install failures despite stopping antivirus and so on. I did report it but got no response. Not all users are happy to change their development platform every time their is a new release or patch, developers need a stable platform for a variety of reasons.
