MSP430G2553: MSP430 & CAP TOUCH BOOSTER GUI NOT RESPONDING

Hello ,

I have a MSPg2553 Launchpad connected with the 430Boost-SENSE1 ,I have programed the user experience demo on to the kit,and the response is as per the user guide of 430Boost-SENSE1.

However i tried to open the same using the GUI,but the GUI is not responding,when double clicking it,it doesn't not Start,I have the latest java installed for running this GUI. The GUI is located at

C:\MSP-EXP430G2 Software Examples\Source\430BOOST-SENSE1\CapTouch_BoosterPack_UserExperience_GUI\application.windows

Also i want to know ,is this cap touch booster compatible with MSP430F5529LP?

Any examples for that?

Hello Sajad,

Have you followed all the Hardware and Software preparation steps in Section 2 of the Capacitive Touch BoosterPack (430BOOST-SENSE1) for the LaunchPad User's Guide? Section 5 mentions that the GUI was written in Processing, and I'm not sure if it's been maintained over the years, especially since this is an older design and touch technology.

Have you seen our new CapTIvate touch technology based on our FRAM MCU's like the MSP430FR2633? If you're working on a new design, I would definitely consider starting with this. Are you receiving any error messages with the GUI? Alternatively, you may find this more helpful in seeing the performance: www.ti.com/.../msptouchprogui .

The MSP430F5529 launchpad is not compatible. The 5xx family of devices uses a comparator for the touch sensing and requires an external resistor which is not found on the boosterpack or launchpad. An example can be found with the experimenters board, www.ti.com/.../msp-exp430f5529 .

Dear Chris Sterzik & James Evans ,

I have followed the user guide for same,Program is working fine as per manual,but GUI seems not working,its not opening when double clicking.

However as Chris Sterzik told it works fine for the MSPTOUCH PRO GUI (CAPTOUCH + MSPG2).
