MSP430F5659: Driver Installation Issue

Part Number: MSP430F5659

Hi TI team,

We are trying to install msp430 Driver using command prompt.  We kept all the  required files in the same folder( .cat, .inf ,.xml). We followed the below command.

                                     pnputil -i -a msp430_ti_signed.inf

It is working fine  and It is getting successfully installed in one PC.

Problem:

I tried with another PC , then if I executed this command it shows access denied. Please advice on this issue on high priority

Regards

Manoj

  • Hi Manoj,

Is this issue somehow related to your other thread from February 8th? If so, I can merge the two threads.
Anyhow, when trying to install on the other PC, do you use a different OS or are you trying to install in a different location, possibly a location you don't have access rights to?

Are you able to give more details on the error message you get in the command prompt when the installation fails?

    Thanks and best regards,
    Britta
  • Try running the command with a command prompt running as Administrator.
  • Hi TI team,

    Thanks for your response
The Driver is working fine for windows 7 64 bit machine.

The Driver installation setup for windows 7 64 bit machine is below
The Installation folder contains(.cat, .inf ,.bat) then we run the batch as administrator.
Batch file contain the commands pnputil -i -a c:\Driver\msp430_ti_signed.inf

The Driver is not working for the windows 7 32 bit machine with the same setup.

    Please advice on this issue

Is this inf file common for 64 bit and 32 bit machine or it is only for 64 bit machine?

    Please advice on this issue

  • Hi Manoj,

the inf file should support both 32 Bit and 64 Bit.

To check if the inf file is working you could try to conduct the installation right clicking on the device in the device manager. Even though this is not the way you want to install the driver this could at least rule out that there's no general problem with the inf file you use.

If you want to install the drivers on a WIN32 machine, did you check if you use the correct DPInst.exe for 32 Bit and not 64 Bit?

    Best regards,

    Britta
