Hi TI Experts,

Please let me confirm the following question.

[Question]
Is there a possibility that MSP430 will be broken if erased the the TLV structure in Segment A on Flash?

Best regards.

  • Hi James,

Thank you for your response. I checked your introduced URL, but I could not understand why MSP430 will be broken only by erasing the calibrate data. The TLV values are stored the DCO ,ADC and Temp values.

Would you please explain more the reason in detail?

    Best regards.

  • Why do you say "msp430 broken"? While you were testing - it was running original firmware, right? Maybe firmware is breaking msp430?

To determine that "msp430 is broken", it must be flashed with simple test code like LED flasher that runs on default DCO settings. If such code fail to operate correctly, then we can suspect that something happened to msp430.

In short: By erasing calibration data segment, you can break only firmware that depends on calibration values, not msp430 itself.

  • Hi
I did not say "msp430 broken". I said that "MSP430 will be broken ".

    Best regards.

  • Hello Kaka,

In the future, I would recommend describing your issue more specifically, since "broken" is very generic. Ilmars has provided some excellent, applicable feedback here. Has your question been answered?
