Linux/MSP432E401Y: Does an MSP432 have a unique Mac address?

What is the best way to add a MAC address to your MSP432E4 solution?
Does TI provide a 1wire device we can add on the PCB for this purpose?

Hi Jan,

i don't know if TI has such a product.

You can buy large amounts of MAC Addresses or use ICs that contain a MAC address like the 24AA02E48 from Microchip.

I don't know why TI does not include a MAC Address, for example every PIC32 MX/MZ has a Mac address included.

Yes we buy stacks of the MAC ICs and they are damn expensive.
Also don't understand since the RF radios comes with 2 x MACs for 15.4.

To buy the MAC addresses from IEEE consortium is very expensive if you only need a few 100 / year, we don't sell nearly enough to warrant it.
It's really silly since IEEE does not allow for instance TI to sell a sub range of MACs that we can just program.
Same issue with USB vendor/device IDs.

I think most just don't bother and generate a once off random MAC.

It's a common problem on all our LAN products, from MPUs to MCUs.

Do you need to know how to program a MAC address into MSP432E4 or how to get an allocation of MAC addresses? As far as I know TI does not provide a  subset of it's MAC address to customers. Let me know if you want me to find out more on the MAC address allocation.

We normally use a one wire IC with pre programmed MAC.
We do too few LAN products a year to obtain a IEEE vendor set.
A once off payment is OK, but yearly it gets a bit expensive.

But maybe you tell me how to get an allocation of MAC addresses.
So please help :)
