MSP430G2553: Low on memory, program crashing

Part Number: MSP430G2553
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ENERGIA

I have a 16*2 lcd, 4*4 keypad and softwareserial interfaced with MSP430G2553. The code works fine with LCD and keypad, with global variables occupying 57% of memory. But, as soon as I initialize the softwareserial, 85% of memory is occupied and the code crashes every time. Warning on Energia: " Low memory available, stability problems may occur." How to fix this without doing away with any of the libraries and without shifting to a larger board?

  • Hi Diptangshu,
I don't believe Energia has any compiler options to help with this, the only way forwarward would be to trim up your code or to move to a larger plat form.

Is CCS an option for you? If so it does have compiler optimization options that may be able to squeeze your code down to size.
