MSP430F5528: Error connecting to the target\n Unknown device

Hi,

I've made a pcb based on a LDC1614EVM board. I added a full JTAG header, but every time I try to download the code I get an error message, I've included screen shot and schematic to see if I've missed something.

Hi Edgar,

in many cases this issue occurs due to erraneous JTAG connection to your target, especially regarding the Vcc connection. Another cause could be a wrong R/C configuration at the RST/NMI pin.

Could you please check if the JTAG connection is fine?

Let me know if your issue still occurs after checking the JTAG connection.

R / C combination on RESET pin can be source of problems if SBW interface is used. In that case (on higher interface speed) capacitance of 2.2nF can cause problems. TI recommend 1nF cap for their hardware FET tools.

If full JTAG interface is used, than R / C combination on RESET pin is irrelevant (for flashing), and I don't see anything wrong on your schematic.

You could also try shortening your JTAG leads.

Do I have the choice of selecting SBW or Full JTAG from CC?

Fixed it, it was a hair line crack on the trace connecting to the RST line, pcb plot error.
