MSP432E401Y: Simple Programming Header

Part Number: MSP432E401Y

Hello, I have been referencing the Launchpad schematic for this device, which has an embedded USB debugger on it. I am looking for the simplest programming method possible, but it looks like there are several 10,14, 20 pin pinouts for different JTAG ports. I don't want to have to use any kind of adapter for my programming header, so which of these pinouts should I use for the most standard programmer? I am coming from more of an Microchip ATmega background, where I can use a simple ISP programmer to flash my device, and it's a standard 6 pin pinout.

What should I use for a connector and pinout to not limit my programming options later?

  • Hello Josh

All of the pinouts specified are standard pinouts. However the most common and popular header off late has been the ARM-10 pin header. Almost all programmers now come with a standard header and adapter for converting between formats. With a 10-pin header you can use a LaunchPad to program your board. Please refer to the following Application Note for JTAG and MSP432E4x devices
