CCS/MSP432P401R: Sensor BoosterPack example not launching on S1 button click

Hi.

I am trying to run Sensor BoosterPack example on my MSP432P401R + CC2650 BoosterPack + Sensors BoosterPack stack. Whenever I push S1 button after launching Debug session - nothing happens. Can not get to work the Temperature Broadcast example aswell because of the button push initialization. Can You help me please? Included the screenshot of my debug session
Also I get a warning when launching debug:

CORTEX_M4_0: WARNING : On MSP432P401R hitting a breakpoint cannot be detected by the debugger when the device is in low power mode.
Click the pause button during debug to check if the device is held at the breakpoint.

The little continue button should be active when it stops at the first line of main. Have you clicked continue so that the program is running?

Vladmir,
If you've clicked the "continue" button as Keith mentioned, the next question would be "have you run any of the driverlib examples that use the button to verify that you don't have a hardware issue?"

Not continue, but Resume. Yes I did that, thanks for mentioning.

I haven't ran the examples, but I did change the button to S2 in the code, but it haven't launched whatsoever.

Problem still persists. The problem is that the services are not being initialized and no "Idle" state is forced.

Put a breakpoint in the S1/S2 interrupt to see if you ever get there.

The problem is, that the device doesn't set itself to idle. As I've read the code, for me, it does not initialize the sensor boosterpack services.

When I push the button I get a message: "[bleThread] Warning! Unexpected Event 256"

Hello Vladimir,

First- which version of the BLE Plugin are you using? It shouldn't matter, but I just want to make sure we are on the same page. The latest version is simplelink_sdk_ble_plugin_1_40_00_42 which requires that you have simplelink_msp432p4_sdk_2_10_00_14 installed.

Next- are you using a CC2650 BoosterPack for your BLE radio or a CC2640R2 LaunchPad? Which HEX image did you program onto the device prior to running the code example? If it is not getting to the "Idle" stage it likely means there was an issue communicating with the BLE radio and it is waiting for a power up indication. The most common case is the wrong image is programmed onto the SNP.

As a simplification could you try running the simple_application_processor code example? This is the most simple code example and once we have established that the BLE communication is working we can go from there to get the BoosterPack working.

Yes. Everything latest is installed.

I am using CC2650 BoosterPack with MSP432 Red one. Finally, I did not program any HEX image on the device, because I could not establish connection in Flash Programmer 2. Right now the CC2650 BoosterPack uses the converted HEX to .c image included in the example.

I will run the example right now and will report ASAP.

I have tried to run the simple example and it does the same. No idle.

P.S. I am using CCS v8.0 right now.

Note: I have ran Project Zero example and the CC2650 BoosterPack was successfully advertising itself, on which basis I have developed my diploma's Android app to the point of communication and connection to the microcontroller. Now I need to get the Sensors BoosterPack working, to gather information from the example and show it on Android device.

Ahh, this is the problem then. The included C file is actually for the newer CC2640R2 device. There is a separate image located at the following path for the CC2650:

C:\ti\simplelink_sdk_ble_plugin_1_40_00_42\source\ti\snp\cc2650\simple_np_cc2650bp_uart_pm_sbl_2_02_01_18a_merge.hex (or wherever your plugin is installed on your OS).

We did update the documentation in the latest release to update how to program the CC2650 BoosterPack (we didn't make it clear that you had to provide external power when programming):

Once you program the correct SNP image to the BoosterPack I am betting that it will work. There is also a C file in the above directory that you can use to program the BoosterPack through the code example, however to be safe I'd recommend just using the programming cable that is included with the BoosterPack.

Yes! Finally! Everything works! You are my hero, Timothy! The older documentation had a flaw with the external power definition. I was thinking about this for these whole 1.5 weeks, but wan't sure how to make it! Yes! That's awesome! I can finally go and finish my app! P.S. You can see me connecting to the stack with Android in Terminal
