CCS/MSP430F2274: EZ430-RF2500

Part Number: MSP430F2274

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello,

I need some assistance with getting the Sensor Monitor Demo to work. Can you guide me step by step on what to do? I've installed Code Composer Studio v8 and the Wireless Sensor Monitor Demo from slac139g zip file. How do I import the project, debug, run, and port it to the launchpad?

Much appreciated,

Khoa

  • Hi Khoa,

Please see the following document for details on how to use Code Composer Studio for MSP430: www.ti.com/lit/ug/slau157ap/slau157ap.pdf

The project files for the Sensor Monitor Demo can be found at download_location\slac139g.zip\eZ430-RF2500 Wireless Sensor Monitor\Embedded\CCS\eZ430-RF2500_WSM

    Regards,
    Nathan
  • Thanks for the pdf! I'm trying to flash the LED to get started but I'm receiving the message "Error initializing emulator: No USB FET was found" when debugging.
  • Update: I've got the LED to flash once it was debugged and built. Now, I'm trying to debug the Sensor Monitor Demo from the slac139.zip file but I'm receiving error message "ComPort: Can't Initialize Target CPU: Failed to open COM65 at 9600 baud: open: The system cannot find the file specified"
  • Hi Khoa,

    Hi,

Are you seeing the COM65 error in CCS? Also, do you have the TXD and RXD jumpers placed on your LaunchPad?

    Regards,
    Nathan
  • Hey Nathan,

Thanks for getting back to me and sorry for the delayed response time. I'm not sure what Txd and Rxd jumpers are but here's an update of what I did and got working:

    • Turned off all firewalls
    • Downloaded and installed older MSP430 compiler (v4.0.1)
    • Successfully debugged and built access point onto target board
    • Successfully displayed access point temperature readings on sensor monitor demo

Now I am trying to debug and build the end device onto a second target board so it will communicate with the access point but it will not display its temperature readings. Here's what I did:

    • Set Active to End Device in Build Configurations
    • Maybe successfully debugged and built end device onto target board? Received no error message
    • Plugged in access point target board with sensor monitor displaying temperature
    • Plugged end device target board into battery board and the LEDs light up
    • No temperature readings from end device

  • Hi Khoa,

Have you confirmed that each board is working individually?

    Regards,
    Nathan
  • I have two targets boards. They both work individually as access points where they can read temperature from the sensor demo. They just aren't working as end devices when one board acts as the access point.

  • Hi Khoa,

Could you please describe how you are attempting to get the temperature readings? Are you using the Network Visualizer GUI?

    Regards,
    Nathan
