CCS/MSP430F6779: Installing multiple CCS versions on same PC

James,

is it possible to have CCS, in my case, v7.4,
install v8.0 and have both v7.4 and v8.0 on one PC?
Is it recommended to have both versions?
  • Sure, I have 6 different versions of CCS installed on my PC. I would recommend using the off-line installers when installing new CCS versions. Also, I would recommend having unique workspace folders for each version.

  • Within c:\ti I have ccsv7.
I assume that installing CCS v8.0 under c:\ti would create ccsv8 folder.
Do I need to reinstall Resource Explorer packages after installing v8.0?
  • Hello Tomasz,

During the CCS v8 installation, you can choose from a drop-down menu whether to install the "ccsv8" folder (and others) inside the "ti" or "ccs800" folder. I typically choose the second option. Also, during the installation, installable products (assumed to be in the "ti" folder) will get detected, and you'll be asked if you'd like to install them into the new Eclipse environment. You can do this after the installation too by going to Preferences > Code Composer Studio > Products in CCS.

    Hope this helps!

  • Thanks a lot!
    I have ccs8 working.
Also now I have TI v16.9.6.LTS as a workaround for a BIOS issue when using v18.1.1.LTS.
