MSP432P401R: TMP007

Hi,

Is there any sample code for connecting the TMP007 sensor to the MSP432 launchpad? It uses I2C, I bought the breakout board from adafruit. Has anyone connected the TMP007 to the MSP432 before, maybe just some basic code to read the temperatures.

There is a TI Drivers example on the TI Resource Explorer under the SimpleLink MSP432 SDK.

Look for i2ctmp007 (LINK HERE).

under the i2ctmp007.c file, there is header for <unistd.h> that gives an error when I try to compile the file. Any help? I'm just running that single file in CCS

how to help you if you show no error information?

Bob has provided a link to the complete project.
Why do you try to compile a single file?
Please import the project pointed out by Bob.
I have imported the project and I see no errors during project build up.

Sorry I'm a student still new to using CCS. How do I import the file in? downloading the file he linked is roughly ~243MB. Do I need all of that?

you: downloading the file he linked is roughly ~243MB.

Bob did not provided the link to a file.
Bob provide the link to the entire project.

243 MB is like a peanut.

You have to choices:
1) to avoid downloading you can build a project within a cloud. On the screen above, top right you have 3 icons, select this in the middle.
2) download all these 243 MB to you local comp.

In both cases you will need to understand how to import a project and what does it mean.
To achieve that you have to read CCS manual.

thanks for the info. Bob do you know if the sample code runs temperature measurements off the sensor? I imported the file as seen in the pic, but I can't debug the final project, is there too many files?

i imported the files as seen down below. but I can't run the project because I think there isn't any MAIN "main.c"file. Do you know what libraries I need specifically?

What does it mean that you have imported files?
As I have replied, you need to import the entire project.
To build a project and start debugging you do not need to know where the project main() function resides.

I imported the entire project. I think what I have meant to say is that I just realized the code he linked isn't a project, it's just example code on interfacing with the sensor.

After importing the project, i go to the i2ctmp007 directory but there is nothing to let me run a project. Maybe Bob will know tomorrow. I appreciate your help

I get errors like this... I haven't imported large files for this. Is this the correct directory?

If you imported a project, you need to go to Menu -> Project -> Build Project.
Please go to CCS manual and follow instructions.

In the earlier post you told me that you have imported the project.

Thanks I realize that now. Is this the correct way? I'm surprised you've helped me this much I really appreciate. In class we always built projects from scratch and haven't used many CCS features.

after checking the forums it appears I have to install the Simplelink SDK file he linked, before being able to use the projects within. any idea how to do that?

Forget about tmp007.
Follow MSP-EXP432P401R and CCS manuals how to import the out-of-the box project.
You need to understand basic Eclipse concepts.
You will never go forward without understanding Eclipse.
