MSP430FR6047: using one transducer channel for level sensing application

Part Number: MSP430FR6047

Hello Team,

I would like to know whether it is possible to implement with our MSP430FR604x devices the possibility of using with one transducer channel and calculate the ToF that receives from a reflected wave via a flat wall (as in the image below).

My application is liquid level sensing, can you please advise back?

Thanks,

Shai

  • Hi Shai,
Sure. Liquid level sensing is one of the MSP430FR604x devices' target applications.
What transducer frequency you would like to use? And what accuracy level you need in this application? You plan to put the transducer in the liquid or above the liquid? Any details about your application?

    Best regards,

  • Hi,

We want to use USS to identify the presence of water in a vertical pipe with a circular cross-section.

    We have two options:

    1. Fix the transducer on the pipe outer wall – and capture the reflected waves from the pipe wall.
    2. Sensing from the inside of the pipe – capture the reflected wave from the upper level of the water.

We are still trying to figure out which implementation will provide the most accurate and reliable measurement.

The transducer freq. will be 1 MHz in case of option #1 (for water),  and probably around 200KHz for option #2 (wave travels through the air).

We thought to use the EVM for the product prototype, yet, I couldn’t find a way to use the EVM GUI to any other purpose than flow rate measurement (or to use only one channel to transmit and receive as described in our application).

Please let me know if there is an option to use the GUI for R&D in only one channel.

    Thanks in advance and regards,

    Shai

  • Dear Cash,
    There is any new?

  • Hello Team,

someone could responses please, I really appreciate that.

    Thanks in advance
    Shai
  • Hi Shai,

Sorry for the late response. I am out of office recently.

So you are testing these two options. One suggestion, we prefer a smaller circular cross-section. Both options looks good, but you need to test which option is the best for your application.

The GUI can not support this case yet. We will working on that, but it takes time.

    Best regards,

    Cash Hao

  • Cash, Thanks for your input.
I'll update my customer and let you know if I need any further assistance from your side.

    Kind regards,
    Shai
