MSP430F2370: MSP430F2370 Programming

Part Number: MSP430F2370
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-FET, MSPBSL, MSP430F5529, TRF7960

Hello,

My team and I want to use the MSP430F2370 in our PCB design but some details are not clear yet.

When the MSP430F2370 is incorporated in a circuit, do we need to flash first the MSP memory to use it with a USB drivers ( Using CP2102 for example) ?

If not, do we need a boot-loader like the MSPBSL or could we use the MSP-FET to flash it through a JTAG  ?

MSP FET :http://www.ti.com/tool/MSP-FET

Other question : In our design the MSP is linked with a RF receiver.A launch pad already exists associated with the MSP430F5529, is this type of MSP can be used for TRF7960-based application as the MSP430F2370 ?

  • A new MSP430 (no firmware programmed yet) in a circuit board when powered up will have all its IOs set as inputs. So, it should not interfere with other devices like a CP2102.
You could use JTAG to program the MSP430 on board. All you will need is to create the connections required for a MSP-FET.
    Any MSP430 should work TRF7960.
