MSP430F2274: Spy-bi Wire Programming

Part Number: MSP430F2274
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-TS430DA38

I would like to configure my MSP430F2274 and its eval board to be programmed (with code composer studio) using the 2 wire spy-bi wire method. The current debugger/programmer I am using is the MSP MCU. I am switching from the 4 wire JTAG method to the spy-bi wire and I am not sure how to reconfigure the eval board/compiler in code composer studio. Is there a certain protocol that I need to follow in order to accomplish this?

  • Hi Amanda,

Could you confirm the specific eval board you are using with the MSP430F2274 device? Is it the MSP-TS430DA38 target board?

If this is the case, then make sure JP4 - JP9 are positioned in the SBW row (pins 1 and 2) and initiate another debug session within CCS. CCS will automatically detect that SBW is the connection to use to communicate with the device.

    Best Regards,

    Mark-
  • It is the MSP-TS430dA38 target board. I have tried to reposition JP4-JP9 to pins 1 and 2, but when I try to compile my code on to the MSP, CCS doesn't recognize that the MSP is connected
  • Hi Amanda,

Can you share a screenshot of the error or the message you receive when CCS doesn't recognize the connected device? Can you confirm the power jumper JP1 is set to INT instead of EXT?

    Best Regards,

    Mark-
